Sculpture for Shared Spaces

Public art has the ability to change how we experience a place.

A sculpture can become a landmark, create a moment of connection, invite curiosity, or encourage people to see a familiar space differently

.

I am currently expanding my sculptural practice into public art and am interested in creating work for parks, streetscapes, community spaces, developments and other shared environments.

SITE + MATERIAL

I am interested in work that feels connected to the place where it lives.

The landscape, architecture, history, community and materials of a site can all influence the direction of a project.

I don't want to simply place a sculpture in a space. I want the work to feel like it belongs there.

Material is an important part of how I work. Salvaged steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, reclaimed materials and natural materials allow me to explore the relationship between industrial and natural elements while giving existing materials another life.

FROM IDEA TO INSTALLATION

My background as a journeyman welder and fabricator gives me the technical experience to take an idea from concept through fabrication and installation.

I enjoy the process of figuring out how an ambitious sculptural idea can actually be built.

Projects develop through research, sketches, material exploration, scale and form before moving into fabrication. I consider durability, finish, maintenance and installation as part of the creative process from the beginning.

My fabrication background informs how I approach structure, materials, finishes, maintenance and longevity.

I create work that encourages people to pause, look closer and experience a familiar space differently.

I enjoy working with project teams, designers, organizations, communities and other professionals to develop work that responds to a shared vision.
